Appearance can be such a touchy subject and has so much to do with identity.
Last month I got rid of my twist extensions and took my natural hair game to another level. (I say another level because I've been chemical- and weave-free since 2007ish). I've been experiencing deep, vast, and expansive shifts in my internal world, some of those shifts physically manifesting in the foods I've been choosing to eat: Gluten, wheat, dairy are no longer huge parts of my diet. The other most recent physical manifestation was that I chose to style my hair in dreadlocks.
I posted my new look on Instagram a few weeks ago and said that I'd shoot a personal success video soon after about identity and transformation and what this hair business has to do with all that. Well, here's that video.
After or as you watch, I implore you to contemplate:
I'll be May's guest presenter for the DanceMasters chapter of Toastmasters International! This group is pretty awesome as they've found a way to work on their dance skills while honing the art of public speaking.
I plan to do a couple of follow along tracks and then change things up a bit by teaching a short West African/AfroCuban inspired Latin number to Soulful House music. What?! Come check it.
