Coaching is an ongoing professional relationship that helps people produce extraordinary results in their lives, careers, businesses or organizations. Through the process of coaching, clients deepen their learning, improve their performance, and enhance their quality of life. In each meeting or call, the Coach listens and contributes observations and questions. This interaction creates clarity and moves the client into effective action.
Coaching accelerates progress by providing focus and awareness. It concentrates on where you are now and what you are willing to do to get where you want to be in the future, recognizing that results are a matter of your intentions, choices and actions. Supported by a good Coach's efforts and the application of the coaching process, amazing things can happen.
In this day and age when we have become so reactive in response to the daily needs of life, coaching is the opportunity to break free. In a coaching relationship you are in the seat of power and control and can proactively direct your life in the direction you want to go. In any area, career, relationship, health, community, when you are being coached you are asked two very important questions. First, what do you want? Second, what are you willing to do about it? These questions are potent and confronting, but the whole idea behind coaching is that you are hiring someone to supportively hold you accountable for getting what you want. You determine what that is.
So mired in reality, so busy living by our clocks and calendars, we often forget what matters to us or have little time to even think about it. That's where a Coach comes in. Your Coach can help you get in touch with your purpose and passion, your dreams and hopes, to overcome your fears and doubts and most importantly support you in taking the necessary steps, week by week, day by day for getting what you want.
Even as a Dream Coach, I continue to use a Coach myself. A Coach listens intently, asks clarifying questions, challenges my assumptions, helps me dream big and makes sure I do the important things I say I will do in order to have the precious things I say I want. It is a partnership based on intention, agreement, integrity and relationship.
The bottom line is we can't do it alone. Some of us think we can, but with a Coach you will be challenged, stretched and empowered. You will dream bigger dreams, have insights, uncover and hopefully remove limitations. With a Coach you will increase your chances at being successful and you will be celebrated for it.

Why Coaching is Important

You are a joy to be around. You’re extroverted, have a full social calendar, and see your life as a big adventure. You surf, hike, do yoga, eat salads, go to Burning Man, and genuinely feel like you’re an expression of pure love and joy.
But there’s this side of you that others don’t’ see. You’re really hard on yourself. You’re hard on yourself for being as emotional as you are. You're hard on yourself for not taking the steps you want to take in your dating life because you're also hard on yourself for not being completely over your ex from one year ago.
You also have a vision for your business and creative pursuits and you have things you know you need to do for their success, but you can’t bring yourself to stay committed to them. You think that because you haven't done it yet, you'll never do it.
You desire accountability to track your commitments to yourself and to your business because you easily talk yourself out of doing the work.
You deeply crave a loving partnership with a significant other. You want to nourish every part of your life while owning your emotions with more rightness and you desire a deep feeling of accountability where you show up for yourself always.

You’re either finishing up college or in your first couple years of being on your own. The thing you desire the most is SELF-CONFIDENCE. You want the Self-confidence to speak your mind, especially when you’re in the presence of others in your industry who know more than you or are more senior than you are. You want to know that what you have to offer in your career and event amongst your group of friends, is valuable. You want to speak with authority wherever you are. You want to feel the same about yourself around everyone and not change how you act just because the people around you are different. You're setting out to do great things in the world, and you want to have your own back 100%. With all this drive, you also realize how MUCH you do work. You take on too much. You are motivated and you also want to be motivated by more than just success. Your sleep suffers and you want to spend more time with your loved ones. When you have free time, you want to enjoy it and stop thinking of all the other things you have to do.

You have a young child, a husband, and a job you enjoy for the most part. On the outside, you seem to always have a smile on your face. On the inside, you feel stretched thin. You accommodate everyone else’s needs at work and at home, at the expense of your own needs. You’ve put on a few extra pounds and not doing those me-time activities that you wish you had time for, stuff like going to your favorite Pilates class and seeing your girlfriends more than once every couple of months. Your child demands a lot of your attention and you want to be the good wife and take care of your husband and take care of the house and take care of the problems at work and take care of the extended relatives. You put on a happy face for others, meanwhile you’re crying inside. You rarely let others see the sad part of you, that feels all this pressure.
You want to put yourself first, to speak up for your needs, say no when you need to without feeling guilty, and to ask for the changes you feel need to be made at work. And you're also scared to admit all this even to yourself.

You are successful by worldly standards. You’ve got a good job and enjoy what you do. You have a loving partner. You have two cars and enough money in the bank. You’re intelligent.
Basically, you look really good on paper.
The problem, however, you're not used to doing what you actually want to do. Your big secret is that you’re dying to create something. Every time you meet someone at a networking event talking about the business they've created or their most recent artistic project, you secretly wish that were YOU.
You want to have something to show, that came from your mind. You want to leave your mark in the world, through creative projects like books, songs, movies, poetry. You have tons of ideas, but you don’t know where to begin to see them come to life. Life is too short and you want more.
CORPORATE BOOKINGS
Using dance and movement to unlock possibilities
- Does your organization desire to retain more satisfied, productive, and healthy employees?
- Do you desire to decrease your employee turnover and sick day usage while increasing employee engagement?
- Is your company culture competitive?
If you answered yes to the questions above, then implementing a weekly or biweekly Danceshop at your organization might be the solution you've been looking for.
The Danceshop combines the experience of a group exercise dance fitness class with the experience of attending a personal and professional development seminar. Danceshop Creator P. Valerie Dauphin facilitates creative problem solving and participant bonding in a fun environment.
Benefits to Your Organization
Creative Problem Solving
Through an intentionally-created process, the Danceshop guides participants to outline specific challenges, obstacles, and desired outcomes at work. They will be guided to uncover solutions to these challenges they were not privy to at the onset. Movement facilitates this activation as neurons of the hippocampus rev up during exercise, thereby improving cognitive functioning.
Employee Bonding
According to the International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association (the trade association serving the global health club and fitness industry), "more than 2 out of five (43%) health club members participate in group exercise, according to the IHRSA Health Club Consumer Report. This amounts to roughly 22.1 million members." I, personally, have fallen into that statistic for over 15 years. One big reason is positive use of Limbic Resonance, "a symphony of mutual and internal adaptation whereby two mammals become attuned to each other’s inner states." Simply put, connection. Happier, well-connected employees are bound to produce higher quality work together. And according to a survey of 3,000 YMCA members in Australia, while exercise makes people happier, group exercise makes people happiest.
Because the Danceshop combines physical exercise with engaging development seminar exercises, we are able to make positive use of Limbic Resonance and encourage a stronger employee network.
